We disassemble the filter tank and grid assembly, inspect the grids for brittleness and holes in the fabric, clean the grids with a pressure nozzle, repair or replace damaged grids (with owner’s approval), inspect the filter manifold for cracks, and reassemble the filter grid assembly and tank.
We don’t recommend soaking the grids in an acid solution as
this may cause the fabric on the grids to weaken.
We also inspect the tank o-ring and lubricate/inspect the backwash valve/handle & add fresh DE.
A clean filter with fresh DE and no holes in the grid fabric or cracks in the interior manifold can be the difference between sparkling clear water or constantly fighting algae.
